FRIENDS OF THE BEAR COAST
We are the Friends of the Bear Coast.
A grassroots collective of professional guides, lodge owners, bush pilots, commercial fisherfolk, Alaskan families, outdoor adventurers, and more who are devoted to keeping Alaska's Bear Coast wild.
We oppose the Johnson Tract mine and are working to keep Lake Clark National Park and Preserve pristine.
We need your help to protect one of the last great wild places left on earth.
The Bear Coast is a stretch of coastline and mountain wilderness extending along the North end of the Alaska Peninsula, including Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, Katmai National Park and Preserve, McNeil River State Game Sanctuary, and more. The Bear Coast is the best bear habitat left on earth. The pristine rivers, lively salmon streams, rich wetlands, and untouched valleys provide a remarkably diverse variety of habitats. In a world where development has robbed us of so many natural wonders, It is crucial for the Friends of the Bear Coast and global conservation efforts to come together to oppose the Johnson Tract mine to safeguard the ecological treasures of the Bear Coast. Once lost, the magnificence of this area will never fully be restored.
Protect the Bear Coast from Johnson Tract mine

We can't fight this mine alone. Lake Clark National Park and Preserve is staring down an incredible threat. The Johnson Tract mine and its conveyed transportation easements will have devastating consequences for the bears, salmon, endangered Cook Inlet beluga whales, and the people of Alaska's Bear Coast.
