ABOUT THE
FRIENDS OF THE BEAR COAST
MISSION & HISTORY
Lurking within the pristine landscapes of Lake Clark National Park lies the Johnson Tract, a gold mine that poses a significant threat to the delicate balance of this untouched wilderness. As the wheels of industrial progress turn, the specter of ecological disruption looms large, casting shadows over the future of the park's diverse inhabitants - from majestic brown bears and iconic salmon to elusive moose and soaring eagles.
This is why we have formed the Friends of the Bear Coast. We are a grassroots collective of professional guides, fishermen, biologists, lodge owners, bush pilots, and outdoor adventurers who all have something in common – we are determined to protect one of the last great wildernesses left on earth.
It is crucial for the Friends of the Bear Coast and global conservation efforts to come together to oppose the Johnson Mine Tract and safeguard the invaluable ecological treasures of Lake Clark National Park. Once lost, the magnificence and ecological significance of this area will never be fully restored. The battle against the Johnson Tract Mine is an opportunity to join together to protect the Earth's dwindling wilderness areas for future generations.
Keep the Bear Coast wild.
